NVIDIA Fan in Bejing Builds a 6ft Replica GeForce GTX 690 Using Over 11,000 Legos

There are many things you could build with 11,396 Lego pieces, but for Xiaosheng Li, a 23-year-old freelance writer for Chinese websites and an avid NVIDIA fan, there was only one thing on his mind. He wanted to build a replica GeForce GTX 690 graphics card, so in July he created a digital mockup using Lego modeling software. Three months later, he had accomplished his goal.

According to NVIDIA, the 23-year-old writer came up with the idea after seeing a "crude model of a competing company's graphics card" that also used Legos. Being an NVIDIA fan, he wanted to make a better looking model. It appears he succeeded, having built a realistic looking replica that measures almost 6 feet long, more than two feet wide, and has a working fan.

"I think I have already qualified to become history’s most powerful Nfan," Li wrote in Chinese-language forum post.

Since constructing the giant size replica, which by the way is built to scale, Li has been able to visit NVIDA's headquarters in Santa Clara, California and meet the company's CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, who gave him an autograph.

Nvidia Calls PC "Far Superior" to Video Game Consoles

Nvidia seeking to add more PC gamers to the fold

If you're caught between the crossfire between console owners and PC gamers, Nvidia urges you to put down your weapons and simply defect to the PC side. According to Matt Wright, consumer sales manager at Nvidia, "the PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming." In other news, PC gamers are laughing until milk snorts out their nose. In other news, water is wet.
It's a point that's been the subject of many an editorial, console owner, and PC enthusiast over the years, and Nvidia is hoping to shake up the gaming ecosystem by re-introducing the argument in a bid to win buyers over to their side. An interview with MCV found Wright explaining his plan in further detail:
"We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC. We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible and we think that it's already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers."

Nvidia Tegra 4i and Tegra 5 powered devices expected Q1 and Q2 of 2014

Nvidia's latest mobile SoCs, the Tegra 4i and Tegra 5, are to be announced in the first quarter of 2014, and devices powered by them will probably be available no later than the second quarter of the year. This was announced by Jen-Hsun Huang, the CEO of Nvidia. Both chipsets have already been certified by AT&T and soon other carriers may follow.

The budget Tegra 4i is part Tegra 3, part Tegra 4 system chip, which will be used in mid-range devices. Unlike its bigger sibling (Tegra 4), the Tegra 4i comes with an LTE-Advanced modem on board, but sports fewer GPU cores compared to the Tegra 4. However, the 4i is more power-efficient due to its updated version of the quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU in comparison with the more powerful Cortex-A15, which is used in Tegra 4.

Nvidia Tegra 5, a.k.a. Logan, will not come with LTE modem inside. Nevertheless, the Icera i500 LTE modem, which Nvidia provides with the Tegra 4i, is certified and suitable for the Tegra 5 as well. The Tegra 5 will allegedly have one of the fastest GPUs around – the 192-core GPU Kepler, and will be a direct rival to Qualcomm's Adreno 400, which is also expected to be unveiled next year. Interestingly, Jen-Hsun Huang also admitted that customers will be delighted by the manufacturer that will produce these first Tegra 4i and Tegra 5 devices.
